Motu Mahaea Beach BBQ 🌴💙 Taha’a, the Vanilla Island. One of Windstar’s signature experiences on Star Breeze was a dreamy motu lunch day in Taha’a, home to about 5,000 people and famous as the Vanilla Island, producing 70–80% of French Polynesia’s vanilla — true white gold. Along with vanilla, Taha’a is also known for its pearls (black gold) and sugar. We arrived by small boats to Motu Mahaea and were instantly surrounded by color — layers of azure, turquoise, and deep lagoon blues so vivid they hardly look real. The water is calm and clear, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or simply floating and watching the world drift by. From the beach, you can snorkel right off the shore and watch stingrays glide past, their shadows tracing patterns in the sand below. Kayaks, paddleboards, beach toys, sunbeds, towels, and a welcoming bar were all set up and waiting — effortless, relaxed, and beautifully done. We went out on the lagoon with H2O Bora Bora’s Eco Snorkeling Sites & Manta Rays Adventure! It was a small group with just 6 guests and three very different snorkel stops around Bora Bora. Stop 1: snorkeling with manta rays, where we saw three male mantas, one at a time, gliding through the clear blue water.
Stop 2: near the Conrad hotel where a large group of spotted eagle rays cruised across the sand.
Stop 3: a peaceful coral garden, full of colorful clams and tropical fish. Calm conditions, clear water, and plenty of time at each stop made the day feel relaxed and unhurried. From the boat, the lagoon shifted through every shade of turquoise and blue — calm, beautiful, and endlessly fascinating. My GoPro footage from an unforgettable day in the Bora Bora lagoon on Dec 9, 2025. I went on the H2O Bora Bora’s Eco Snorkeling Sites & Manta Rays Adventure. We had three snorkel stops: Stop 1: I saw three different manta rays — one at a time. Male manta rays can reach about 9 feet across. Females can reach up to 12 feet wide. Silent. Graceful. Powerful. It felt less like snorkeling and more like being invited into their world.
Stop 2: We watched about 45 spotted eagle rays swimming below us — an incredible sight.
Stop 3: Our third stop was at a coral garden with clear water, colorful clams, and schools of small tropical fish drifting through the reef. Small group, beautiful conditions, and the kind of snorkeling where you don’t rush — you just float, watch, and take it in. Huge thanks to our boat captain and expert guides Matt and Wilson — knowledgeable, respectful of the ocean, and fantastic hosts. Days like this are why I love being on the water in French Polynesia with Windstar Cruises. 🌊💙

Suite 623 aboard Star Breeze by Windstar Cruises truly felt like a floating resort in Tahiti. I loved the smart floor plan, with a curtain separating the bedroom area, a comfortable couch and chairs, a huge window, and a walk-in closet that made settling in easy. The bathroom has double sinks, and Windstar thoughtfully provides as much fresh water as you need, with reusable bottles you can take home. But the ship experience goes far beyond the suite. The fitness center is impressively large, and the World Spa by Windstar is absolutely beautiful — serene treatment rooms and an island-inspired menu that fits this destination perfectly. One standout: Windstar’s Tahitian hot stone massage, part of their World Spa experience. Using local volcanic stones and fragrant Monoi oil, this deeply relaxing treatment is designed to release tension, rebalance energy, and channel the feeling of the islands themselves. My signature hot stone massage with Emmalyn, the spa manager, was exceptional — one of those treatments that lingers long after you leave the spa. Suite 623 aboard Star Breeze by Windstar Cruises truly felt like a floating resort in Tahiti. I loved the smart floor plan, with a curtain separating the bedroom area, a comfortable couch and chairs, a huge window, and a walk-in closet that made settling in easy. The bathroom has double sinks, and Windstar thoughtfully provides as much fresh water as you need, with reusable bottles you can take home. But the ship experience goes far beyond the suite. The fitness center is impressively large, and the World Spa by Windstar is absolutely beautiful — serene treatment rooms and an island-inspired menu that fits this destination perfectly. One standout: Windstar’s Tahitian hot stone massage, part of their World Spa experience. Using local volcanic stones and fragrant Monoi oil, this deeply relaxing treatment is designed to release tension, rebalance energy, and channel the feeling of the islands themselves. My signature hot stone massage with Emmalyn, the spa manager, was exceptional — one of those treatments that lingers long after you leave the spa.
