Dinner at New Krung Thai (yes, people lined up before opening!) delivered bold, authentic flavors. Then to Augustine for something fresh and elevated, and Zazil for vibrant Mexican dishes that brought the energy. I had the fajitas at Zazil (so good!)—and yes, they make guacamole tableside. Both are perfect for sitting outside on Santana Row, soaking in the scene. At Augustine, everything is great—just be sure to save room for dessert.

Being near Japantown San Jose—one of only three historic Japantowns in the U.S.—added even more depth to the experience. This city is layered with history and flavor, and I loved exploring it bite by bite. And it doesn’t stop at restaurants. I sipped award-winning wines at Alamitos Vineyards and tasted globally recognized whiskey at 10th Street Distillery—both rooted right here in San Jose, both absolutely worth the visit. Taking off from San José Mineta International Airport and looking out the window, I kept thinking about the wonder of it all—someone believed people could fly… and now we do it every day. ✈️✨ SJC celebrates that spirit in the best way. More than 75 years after its founding, it still honors its very first commercial flight—carrying 2,550 baby chicks—with “Ernie” the chick popping up all over the terminals (sometimes even in sports gear!). It’s playful, yes—but also a reminder that big ideas start somewhere. And that spirit is everywhere in San Jose. Engineers are crafting award-winning wines at Alamitos Vineyards and world-class whiskey at 10th Street Distillery. Athletes are chasing dreams with the San Jose Sharks. Storytellers are bringing science to life—like Project Hail Mary—which I saw on the world’s largest IMAX laser dome at The Tech Interactive. During the era of the Artemis launch program, it felt like the perfect place to experience a story about space, science, and possibility. 🚀 Add in a beautiful stay at Hotel Valencia Santana Row, incredible meals across the city, and time with friends—and this trip had everything. Innovation, creativity, community, and yes… a lot of fun.
